How to become a Freemason

PREREQUISITES

To become a Freemason, you must be a man (of 18 years at least) and have a belief in a Supreme Being (God). Secondly, you have to express a desire to join; you have to ask if you may become a member. To become a Freemason is as simple as that.

To get the most out of Freemasonry, you need to actively participate in the life and activities of your lodge. Reading books on aviation cannot replace the exhilaration and experience of actually sitting in a cockpit and flying a plane; similarly the lessons of Masonry can only be learned by contributing to, and experiencing the rituals and ceremonies that are an integral part of its structure. Most lodges meet about once a month, so you need to make available one night a month for meetings whenever possible. Masonry requires involvement, commitment and dedication.

To join Lodge University of Sydney you should be an undergraduate or graduate of a recognised University or hold an equivalent qualification. If you believe your academic qualifications may not meet our requirements, contact the Membership Officer, who will discuss your situation and if necessary direct you to a more suitable lodge.

If you are considering joining Freemasonry, FORGET THE MYTHS, GET THE FACTS. Come along to one of our Social Events or email the Membership Officer who will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

For Masons wishing to Affiliate, contact the Membership Officer

If you do not know anybody who is a Mason, you need to obtain two character references, and contact the Membership Officer for our mailing address and for further information about the application process.
